Landscaping

pond Rainer always loved working with nature in the garden and spending lots of time in the forests.
So it was only natural to study Landscape Ecology with an emphasis on forestry and wetland recultivation.
After a few years working mainly for the government and nature conservancies I added a landscaping company to my design office and specialized in the design and construction of residential gardens.
Their main theme was being as natural as possible and creating an oasis for the owners, like a room outside the house to relax and enjoy nature. They always included a water feature like a pond, a creek or sometimes just a little spring.
To plant at least one big tree higher than the roof of the house in every new garden was also one of my favourites. Many clients admitted that they never before appreciated being in a garden that much, but now they often visit it already in the morning and watch the life of plants, birds, insects and the life in the water.

Our desire to live in a cleaner environment, work with animals and raise or rather grow our own food brought us to British Columbia in 1993.

Now I am every day "landscaping" on our ranch, restoring biodiversity and marvel at the healing capacities of mother nature.
I also do some landscaping and enjoy introducing people to the beauty of a natural environment, which is not surprisingly also easy to take care of.
My favourite is still building swimming ponds, introduced by me in the 70's in Germany. Here you have a totally natural looking pond, where you can swim in. The water is clean because it is in balance, no chemicals are added. The design allows for a maximum of solar heating and easy entrance.
